NOTE: Some instances of amplifiers are causing a "hum" sound in the system . This is a work in progress to determine why, please be aware. You may have to wire the RCA 5.1 to the speaker outputs instead. Do not purchase if you do not agree.

MAJOR Android Auto Connectivity Problem

I installed the CC3 4k in my 2003 Lexus LX470 and am really not happy. The climate control works fine but there are SERIOUS issues with connectivity and audio streaming.

I'm on a OnePlus 8T running Android 14. At least half of the times I start the vehicle the Car Link 2.0/Android Auto will not connect. Sometimes the 'Connecting' animation will run endlessly, and sometimes it will connect and just show a completely blank screen and become unresponsive. I have tried all types of steps to get it to connect (hitting the 'home' button in the Car Link and reopening, restarting bluetooth on the phone, making sure the phone is awake and on the home screen before opening Car Link on the CC3) and nothing seems to work with any consistency. The only solution I have found is to drill down into the CC3 settings to force stop the Link software and restart it only to have the same random chance of establishing a connection.

This is extremely frustrating for the amount of money that I paid and the amount of time I spent installing this unit.

At this point I would just prefer to use the built-in bluetooth app to listen to my music, but that app has a horrible glitch that makes a terrible electric buzz whenever the phone receives or sends a text message and disconnects bluetooth (see attached video).

So I am stuck using the Android Auto with its completely random connection probability. Unfortunately now THAT app has started to disconnect from audio when a text message is received, requiring a disconnect/reconnect of the Android Auto and another roll of the dice on establishing the connection.

I'm really at a loss of what to do. I've put a lot of money into the unit and a lot of time installing and configuring it, but if I can't rely on it to connect correctly or to at least let me listen to music over bluetooth I would like a refund so I can look at other options in the market.

This has potential, but there are still many issues with the install and operation. Manufacture provides limited support. How to set up and use info is limited. Most of the credit for resolving issues goes to the ih8mud.com forum. Still working to resolve the continuous background hissing issue with the 2004 Land Cruiser
