How to Fault Find Canbus Issues

The most common issue is that the C port is not plugged in or plugged in but not seated correctly. Sometimes a simple swipe down on the screen and selecting "reboot" will rectify the issue.

1) Make sure this connection is made and properly fitted with the canbus connected.

  • Take special note to check the related wires for any loose connections or bent pins. You can very gently pull on the wires to make sure they are terminated securely

2) Next check that the canbus is registering on the device

Go to Settings --> System --> About Device --> Scroll to CAN Protocol Version

If it is showing as "unknown" it is not being registered. Check that the C port is plugged in and firmly seated and that the canbus is plugged in properly.

If that is ok, please check that there is no loose wiring that has come out of the pins.

Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the canbus & C port can clear this error

An example below is of a canbus that is registering on the device.

3) You can also enable the canbus protocol print to see the read out from the canbus. When you press your steering controls you should see unique data changing which means data is being transmitted.

Go to Settings --> Factory Settings --> Enter 168 --> Original Car Agreement --> Protocol Print

 4) If all the above checks out but your steering or A/C controls are not working. Most of the time there is a bug blocking it. It can be cleared by doing a factory reset.
