First of all let me state that I'm a US customer, and my vehicle is a 2014 Jeep Compass; some of my gripes may be due to my location.
I'll start with the build quality of the "shroud" - its not the best. While it has the general shape of the OEM radio shrouding; what came with the head unit is not quite right in some areas - a stud that a screw goes in doesn't line up with the oem climate control unit holes, the plastic is bit on the flimsy side and I doubt it will last more that year or two at most with direct sun beating on it through the window; not to mention that it honestly feels like its ready to snap at a moment's notice.
The headunit itself is fine.... It's snappy when swapping between screens, and once I FINALLY got every single setting setup it actually sounded something close to the OEM headunit; so nothing spectacular but not awful. But thats an issue in itself... out of the box the sound quality of this thing is atrocious! Figuring out what had to be done to get it dialed in for OEM speakers and no amp was an ordeal and took the better part of 4 days. The equalizer settings are just that bad - If it were possible to substitute it with something else from the Play Store I would have.... believe me I tried.
The interface is something to get used to; I personally had to stop using the default Teyes 1/2 because that always on map was bugging me, and has widgets that you cant replace unlike themes 3 and 4 - I use 3 as my default in night mode. The include Teyes driving app thing where the animation shows a car driving down a highway was breaking 1/2; causing the entire headunit to crash randomly when running with a very loud electrical "VWOOP" coming over the speakers every time it did. I stopped using that app and themes 1/2 and havent had an issue since.
ALSO - big one here - the reviews and people saying that the internal microphone was better than that of the regular CC3 and there was no need for the external mic are all LYING !!! It not only sounds muffled; it outright cuts out. I'll lay out it right now... it was due to multiple reviews here and elsewhere saying the mic issues were fixed and you could expect great sounding calls that I spent the extra on the 2K unit and not the regular CC3.
The cameras that Teyes offers and I received (one came with the 2k and the other I purchased) are junk. The cord alone is reason enough to not to use them as you will need drill a large hole just to fit the connectors through. I will not be using the cameras - the one that came with it or the one purchased as I just dont trust them quality wise and the local shop is refusing to touch them; instead I've opted for a known brand here state side that also makes AHD backup cameras.
As a US customer I'll say it plane about the included antennas... you can throw out the cell phone antennas; and probably the gps one as well. US cell service providers only use a handful of the bands supported by the headunit and will only give you slow and intermittent service if you try to use them. If you have your phone connected to the headunit then all the data usage will come from that - including the gps data; meaning the gps antenna can probably be left uninstalled as well. As I have a Pixel 6 that is fully up to date; I have been able to connect to the android auto app wirelessly just fine and still recommend the wifi antennas.
Android Auto / Carlink works surprisingly well; its fairly responsive, and I've enjoyed the overall experience. My main gripe with the implementation of it on this unit is that icons are super small - something I've seen mentioned multiple times in reviews on the site. I do wish that I could close out the maps app or at least increase the volume of the google assistant - it gets awfully hard to hear at highway speeds.
Now all in all am I happy with the unit? Kinda.... maybe? Its nice to have android auto and google maps; but I'm not sure the overall experience was worth $257.63USD price tag. If the CC3 2k headunit itself is compatible with the universal mounting system, and if it is possible ONLY buy the mounting system then I would do so in a heartbeat so I could go back to my OEM radio shroud that I know is made of quality plastic. For now since I've spent the money and I've got it somewhat sounding decent.... I'll keep it installed.
